Humboldt-Del Norte TK-12 Equity Partnership Hiring Workshops
Developed and delivered 6-hour workshop series entitled, Developing an Equitable School or District: Implicit Bias, Hiring, Retention, and You, offered to TK-12 administrators, teachers and community leaders looking to rethink their hiring and selection practices with a goal of increasing equity and inclusion.
Humboldt Bay Fire Racial Equity Assessment
Conducted a racial equity assessment that included interviews with leadership, a policy review, and a staff survey to evaluate the organization’s readiness to engage in equity-related work. Supported leadership in implementing recommendations and next steps.
Racial Equity Workshops
In a multi-racial team, co-designed and co-facilitated 4- to 10-hour interactive workshops centered on exploring and understanding the four dimensions of racism: internal, interpersonal, institutional, and structural. Workshops focused on centering the voices of people of color, creating brave spaces for constructive communication, and developing solutions to achieve racial equity and organizational change.
Avoiding Implicit Bias to Promote Equity & Diversity Workshop
Designed and facilitated 2- and 4-hour workshops focused on exploring the concept of implicit bias, identifying its impacts on specific work settings, then developing strategies for avoiding and responding.
Monthly Racial Equity Roundtables
Co-design and co-facilitate monthly 2-hour public racial equity roundtables. Roundtables focus on centering the experiences and voices of people of color, increasing participants’ knowledge of race and racial inequities, developing skills to constructively talk about racism and injustice, and offering concrete actions people can implement in their own lives. Topics have included: colonization & decolonization, intersectionality & privilege, microaggressions, race & society, and more. North Coast Co-Op Proposed Plan for Supporting Racial Equity
Developed a detailed set of recommendations for advancing racial equity in a multi-phased process. Focused on centering the voices of people of color, proposal development included research regarding current initiatives at co-ops nationwide as well as one-on-one interviews with employees.
Humboldt State University Annual Diversity Reporting
Implemented annual in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis of key indicators for equity and inclusion for a university with 8,000 students and 1,000 staff and faculty. Reports were used as education tools, as well as to inform strategic planning processes.
College of Extended Education Implicit Bias Workshop
Created and facilitated a 6-hour in-depth workshop examining implicit bias and its impacts on all types of hiring situations and professions. Interactive, student-centered, and solutions-based.
Building Boards Where We All Belong
Designed and facilitated a 3-part workshop focused on increasing diversity of nonprofit boards.
Humboldt State University Student, Staff & Faculty Focus Groups
Conducted annual focus group series—centered on experiences with diversity & inclusion—for hundreds of students, and dozens of staff & faculty. Data from these focus groups informed strategic planning processes for the University.
